Pillings is a Japanese fashion brand created by Ryota Murakami. The brand name originates from "pilling", meaning small loose strands or balls of fiber that form on a piece of fabric. It expresses the brand's hope that people will cherish the knittings and continue to wear them until the become covered in lint balls. Also, just like the lint balls created by friction, the clothes are developed through constant communication with artisans and experimental trial and error, which in turn leads to each season's design.
