Herere Ceramics

Herere Ceramics was founded by a Korean ceramicist Eunji Kim and focuses on the inherent textures and organic lines of objects. Her pieces are mainly white/cream with gentle glazes. Each piece is unique and thrown one by one.

Herere, prounced and written HEE-O-RI in Korean,  is a plant native to South Korea called Corylopsis coreana Uyeki, commonly known as the Korean winter hazel. Heeori is a pure Korean word originated from 'Hee-da' meaning white and it means 'it appears white when the light is reflected' as the flowers of this plant, which are originally light yellow, turn white under the sunlight and apparently in some regions in Korea it was planted to mark distances - about every 6km - as the flowers appear bright white under the light hence visible from a distance.
